After two sell out and critically acclaimed summer runs, York Theatre Royal’s stage production of E Nesbit’s 1906 novel The Railway Children comes to London’s former Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station. One of the country's best loved children’s novels is brought to life using this unique theatre setting where audiences sit either side of a real railway track.
The Railway Children is being staged to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the popular film adaptation and even uses the saloon carriage that featured in the film. The undoubted star of the show is Stirling Single, a beautiful 60 tonne steam locomotive from the National Railway Museum in York. Don't miss your chance to join Bobby, Peter and Phyllis as they tell the story of how they became The Railway Children when their father is mysteriously taken away. Moving with their mother from London to rural Yorkshire, they befriend the local railway porter and embark on a journey of discovery, adventure and friendship.
The production supports the Railway Children's Charity that helps homeless children throughout the world, including those who live near railway stations. For each theatre ticket for the Railway Children sold, £1 will be donated to the charity.
Cafes, children's activities, a model railway and exhibitions all available at the theatre. Get there early to join in the fun.
