About Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing the musical, based on the classic film released in 1987, is the coming-of-age tale of the young and innocent ‘Baby’ Houseman, her love for dance and affection for hotel dance instructor Johnny Castle.

Dirty Dancing is back on the West End this Christmas at the Phoenix Theatre.

It marks a return to the West End for the screen-to-stage musical, which broke box office records in 2006.

Set at an upmarket American holiday camp called Kellerman’s in the 1960s, Dirty Dancing centres on the teenaged Baby Houseman who falls in love with the camp's working class dance instructor Johnny Castle, whose climactic line, “Nobody puts Baby in the corner”, has since become a classic.

Dirty Dancing Show Reviews

Fantastic show

"Really fantastic show. I bought tickets to take my Mum for her 60th birthday and she loved it. She's always been a Dirty Dancing fan and the live performance was much better than we expected! Fabulous!"

Dirty Dancing Delights!

"I really didn't think they could make Dirty Dancing any better. After all the movie was a true classic, which I still love now. But the Dirty Dancing production team do an excellent job. The new bits add to the story without detracting from the original splendour.

At the performance I attended the atmosphere was almost electric. People were really enjoying it and cheers went up on a regular basis. I couldn't help but tap my feet along to the soundtrack. Others were almost bouncing in their seats.

The Dirty Dancing cast are magnificent and sure, there's no Patrick Swayze, but it was still a thoroughly good performance and I'd happily recommend it to friends, family and fans! "
