Ghost the musical originally started life on the stage in Manchester Opera House in early 2011, before moving to the West End in June. It has proven so successful, that a Broadway version of the show is set to open in 2012.
Ghost the musical is obviously based on the original romantic oscar-winning film Ghost which hit the big screen in 1990 and starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg. The musical has appealed to so many because of the way it adheres so closely to the original movie script.
The simple story is bought to life for stage as lovers Sam (Richard Fleeshman) and Molly (Caissie Levy) are torn apart by tragedy when Sam is killed during a robbery which occurs as they return to their apartment. But Sam's death is not the end, as he finds himself trapped between this world and the next. He cannot leave Molly behind and has the strong feeling that she is in danger. With the help of a medium, Oda Mae Brown (Sharon D Clarke) he manages to get in touch with Molly to warn her.
Directed by Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus, supported by David Grindrod and James Mckeon as casting and musical directors respectively and backed by a strong cast and crew, Ghost the musical has been impressing audiences and critics since it first took to the stage. The special effects have been especially highly praised, with a large back drop of screens displaying a wide range of imagery and scenes, adding to the depth of the show.
With obvious themes of love, lust, death and loss, Ghost the musical is certainly not a show for younger viewers, but for fans of the theatre or even just fans of the original film, this is a must see. There are some racy, raunchy and rude scenes, including the much-loved pottery scene. While the death of Sam is both graphic and moving.
Ghost the musical has a number of new songs over the original big-screen version, all performed magnificently by the cast and their supporting singers/dancers – expect a range of songs with everything from rap to ragtime and everything in-between. The score adds to the magic and in the end, the musical is a roller-coaster ride of emotion and romance, as much, if not more than the film.
Book tickets to see Ghost the musical today and relive the old classic through the theatre.

I have never felt so compelled to write a review after seeing a new show as I did last night, having experienced the phenomon that I am sure will be 'Ghost the musical'!
If you loved the movie you will simply adore the musical - you will be impressed by the recreation of it live on stage and it is so creatively reinvented you really don't miss a few of the minor moments that made the movie so magical......the music is brilliant, the cast incredible and the sets and special effects were just breathtaking. Richard Fleishman is a star!
See it with a lover, see it with your girlsfriends - but whatever you do go and see it! You will not be disappointed
