First hitting the West End in 2006, Thriller Live was dubbed as a 'celebration of the undisputed King of pop' and is another in a long line of theatre musicals designed as a tribute to a band or musical icon. The other most notable being Mamma Mia! which celebrated Abba's music, while We Will Rock You was a dedication to the music of Queen. But Thriller Live does things differently. It doesn't try to tell a story, but instead dedicates an evening to re-enacting the back catalogue of Michael Jackson's classic works in the vein of a concert performance.
Starting from his years in the Jackson 5, Thriller Live plays through a wealth of classic Jackson tunes that spanned the 40 years of his career as they 'King of Pop' – finishing, rather appropriately, with a splendid performance of Thriller. Five singers, take on the various incarnations of Michael Jackson over the years, from the young member of the Jackson 5, to the moonwalking, crotch-grabbing adult. Kieran Alleyne plays Michael Jackson in his early afro-toting years, followed by Ben Foster, John Moabi and Roger Wright who perform the songs from the years that followed. All of this is topped off by a performance by Ricko Baird who was lucky enough to have some training and dancing experience with Michael Jackson before his passing. It shows too, as Ricko Baird is able to re-enact the classic dance moves including the moonwalk, Jackon’s glides, body shuffles to such a degree that you could easily swear that you were witnessing the man himself perform.
Thriller Live does not have a story, it is not intended to be a commentary on Michael Jackson's life, neither the controversy, nor the fame, but instead it is just a testament to his music and talent, which is undeniable.
Thriller Live is over two-hours of non-stop hits from the King of Pop and features all the classic Jackson hits you know and love, including I Want You Back, I’ll Be There, Show You The Way To Go, Can You Feel It, Rock With You, She’s Out Of My Life, Beat It, Billie Jean, Earth Song and Thriller.
Director & Choreographer of Thriller Live, Gary Lloyd, is an award-winner who has worked with many big names including Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Pink and many others. So you can be sure that the dancing and performances of Thriller Live will have you left in awe of the talent and legendary status that Michael Jackson left behind.
Thriller Live was originally created and co-produced by Adrian Grant who had over 21 years of experience and association with Michael Jackson and as such was well-placed to craft the masterpiece tribute to the King of Pop that Thriller Live became.
For all Michael Jackson fans, Thriller Live is a fitting tribute which relishes in the music and talent of the fallen legend without tackling the controversy which surrounded his later years. And this is perhaps the genius of the concert style performance over the biographical show that could have been.
Originally, Thriller Live was only set to run until 2009, but proved so popular with fans and theatregoers that it has continued to run successfully until this day.

The show was awful, we felt that the singers had been auditioned for that day from the streets of London. The MJ lookalike did not sing and the singers that did not look like MJ could not sing! The view in the £60 seats was restricted and we were really disappointed.
If you are looking for a show that gives you a good night and value for money, this is not it.

Show was wicked. After about half hour everyone got really into it the whole place turned into a big party! Deff recommend it for MJ fans. Cast were brilliant. Hayden was amazing shame Zoe is quite lame but other than that was great exprience. We had seats right at the back and could still see and hear really well.
