The Lyric theatre is located on Shaftesbury Avenue in London's West End and is operated by Nimax theatres along with the Apollo, Duchess, Garrick and Vaudeville theatres. The Lyric Theatre holds 924 seats over 4 levels that include the stalls, dress circle, upper circle and balcony. Originally constructed in 1888, the Lyric theatre is one of the older theatres that graces the streets of London's West-End. It has been restored several times over the years and constantly improved.
The Lyric theatre has hosted well over 40 productions since its doors first opened, the most recent of which include Hairspray: The School Musical, Eddie Izzard's Stripped and Thriller Live!
In terms of disabled facilities, there is an infra-red hearing aid system for the hearing impaired. Guide dogs are allowed in the boxes, but not in the auditorium and there is disabled access through the Royal entrance double exit doors. Each box can accommodate one wheelchair user and companion and there is transfer seating in the dress circle. Disabled toilet facilities are also available.
